MoodLens is a mood journal. This policy explains what the app collects, why, where it goes, and how to delete it. The short version: we collect only what's needed to read your entries and show your history, we don't know who you are, and you can delete everything at any time.

What we collect

• Written entries. The text you write is sent to our server to be analyzed, and the text plus its mood reading is saved to your history.
• Voice clips. If you use voice mode, the recording is sent to our server, analyzed, and then discarded. Recordings are not stored on the server. Only the mood reading is saved to your history.
• Mood readings and timestamps. The emotion labels and scores for each entry, and when it was made.
• An anonymous device ID. The first time the app syncs, our server issues a random ID that links your history to this installation of the app. It is stored securely on your device. It is not tied to your name, email, phone number, or any account.

We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifiers. The app has no ads, no third-party analytics, and no tracking across other apps or websites.

How we use it

Only to provide the app: analyzing entries, showing your history, and computing the trends and suggestions you see on the home screen. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.

Where it's processed

Mood analysis runs on our own server hosted on Google Cloud in the United States, using open-source models. Your entries are not sent to any third-party AI service. Your history is stored in a database hosted by Neon in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by these providers.

Also stored on your device

The app keeps a copy of your entries on your phone, and recordings stay on your phone until you delete the app or its data.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your history until you delete it. To delete everything, open Readings in the app and tap Delete All. This permanently removes your entries from our server and from your device, and resets your anonymous ID. Deleting the app removes the on-device copy but not the server copy, so use Delete All first. Because we don't know who you are, we can't find your data from an email request alone. Delete All in the app is the way to remove it.

Not medical care

MoodLens is a reflection tool, not a medical device, and it doesn't provide diagnosis or treatment. If you are in crisis or thinking about self-harm, in the US call or text 988, or contact your local emergency number.

Children

MoodLens is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, note it in the app.
